The edition’s featured exhibition embarks on a visual journey that reveals how representations of the female body throughout history have not only mirrored but actively fueled inequality and injustice – shaping a collective imagination that continues to leave scars on how we perceive and treat women’s bodies today.

This is a story of girls who fly, old women who cast spells, little girls who bewitch toads. But it is not a fairytale. It is a dark chapter of history – of the Basque Country and beyond. One of the many moments in which women’s bodies were trampled, manipulated, and abused, becoming the target of persecution driven by ignorance and superstition. A scapegoat for a wave of collective hysteria that, between the late Middle Ages and the early modern period, led to over fifty thousand victims in Europe alone.

All of Them Witches by Bego Anton is a visual reconstruction of the history of the witch hunts in the Basque Country, born from the artist’s political and creative need to demystify the figure of the witch. Anton does so through powerful, evocative, and mysteriously charged images—utterly contemporary yet hauntingly timeless. Her work reminds us that the myth of the witch is rooted in misogyny, and that in an era of growing challenges to patriarchal structures, it is essential, as the photographer states, “to share this part of our history in order to reflect on our past and uplift the female condition.”

[43,44
post-855","mostra","type-mostra","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","ciclo-photography","ciclo-the-body-i-live-in
["GET
